Temporary Portable Storage

Some jobs are not a storage problem, they are a gap. A few days between keys, two weeks between tenants, a fortnight while a floor cures. You do not need a unit across town with a gate code and a monthly habit to cancel later — you need somewhere to put everything, once, until the date arrives. We deliver a 16-foot (8×8) container, you fill it, we take it, and we bring it back when the next place is ready.

How you use the container for a short hold

1. Give us the window, not just a start date. Call for a free estimate with the rough dates on both ends — settlement, hand-over, the day the next house is available. Those two dates decide whether the box waits in the driveway or in our yard.
2. We drop the box where the load is. The clean, dry 16-ft (8×8) container is set on the driveway with room to back a hand truck up to the doors. You do not drive to it and you never move it — Steedle does every move.
3. Load it in one push. A short hold is usually a weekend, not a project. Everything goes in at once, so pack the far end with the things you know you will not touch and keep the doors-end for the coffee maker, the tools and the box of clothes you will want on day three.
4. We take it away and hold it. On your date we pick the loaded container up and it waits at our West Deptford warehouse at 1152 Crown Point Road. Nothing gets carried down a corridor, nothing gets handled twice more than it has to be.
5. We bring it back when the next house is ready. Keys in hand, you call, and the same container is delivered to the new address — not a different address than you left from if you have moved on, either. Unload at your pace and we collect the empty box.

What belongs in the box for a few days or weeks

Because the hold is short, load for one continuous stretch: the furniture and mattresses that have to be out of the rooms, boxed kitchen and bathroom contents, clothing and linens, electronics, rugs, bikes and patio furniture, and the packed contents of the closets. Keep a suitcase, medication, documents, chargers and anything you need daily out of the container entirely — on a two-week gap you will not want to schedule a redelivery for a phone charger.

Keep out of the container: anything illegal, plus flammables and fuel, propane tanks, perishable food, plants and pets — a short hold is still storage, and half a fridge does not survive a fortnight. No interior modifications either: no shelving, hooks, drilling or cutting inside the unit. And do not tow, shift or reposition the container; call us.

On-site or West Deptford for a days-to-weeks timeline

Keep it on-site when the gap is genuinely short and you still have the property — a week of painting, a floor being refinished, an inspection or an appraisal, family in the spare room. It stays locked in the driveway and you can open it whenever you like.

Send it to our West Deptford warehouse when the whole point is that you are leaving. Once you hand over the keys there is no driveway to leave a box in, so we move the loaded container to 1152 Crown Point Road and it waits there for the days or weeks in between, then comes to the next house on your say-so.

Optional packing and loading

A short hold compresses the work into a weekend, which is exactly when optional packing and loading earn their keep — a settlement date that will not move, an out-of-town family member doing the clearing, or a tenant turnover where the paint crew starts Monday. Load it yourself at your own pace if you have the time, or ask us to do it when you call for your estimate.

$125 a month — call to schedule

Portable storage is $125 per month, and rentals can be short or long term, so a ten-day hold and a stay that quietly becomes three months are both fine — if the dates move, tell us and we extend.
