Portable Storage Rentals in Audubon, NJ

Portable Storage Units, Storage Containers, Rental Units

Audubon wants a permit for a pod on the street or in the driveway, and it wants it before delivery. Steedle Portable Storage rents 16-foot (8×8) containers for $150 per month, delivered from our yard at 1152 Crown Point Road in West Deptford. The Borough’s Dumpster/Pod Permit page sets a $25 fee, a 14-day permit, and a 15-foot distance from structures, so the placement conversation is worth having before you book a date. If your project needs longer than 14 days, our warehouse is the simple alternative. Call (856) 848-4854 for a free estimate. Family-owned since 1918.

The Audubon pod permit, step by step

  1. Get the form before you book. The Borough’s “Application for Use of Dumpster, Pod, and Roll-Off Container” asks for the start and end dates, the address, whether the location is the street or the driveway, the reason (construction, house cleanout, or other), and the container type, which includes POD.
  2. Read the terms. You check boxes confirming that you agree to comply with all ordinances and that you are liable for damage to the roadway and for the cost to repair Borough property.
  3. Submit with payment. The $25 fee is by exact cash or check payable to the Borough of Audubon. The completed form is delivered in person to Borough Hall (2nd Floor) or sent as the Borough’s page describes.
  4. Wait for approval. The Clerk’s Office and the Audubon Police Department both review it; the Borough asks for a minimum of three business days. Delivery should not happen before approval.
  5. Match our delivery to the dates. Drop-off and pick-up dates go on the application, and the permit runs 14 days. Once approved, we deliver from West Deptford on your date.

Direct link to the form: Audubon Application for Use of Dumpster, Pod, and Roll-Off Container (PDF). The requirements are posted on the Borough’s Dumpster/Pod Permit page. The form cites “Code 1992, § 291-17” as its legal reference.

Placement rules, and the 15-foot question

The Borough’s page is direct about where a pod can go: the street or the driveway, with a permit either way. It sets two physical conditions. First, dumpsters and pods must be at least 15 feet away from any structure. Second, they must be on blocks to protect the roadway surface and carry reflective tape and cones for visibility. The form adds that a container in the street must be on blocks.

We did not find, on the Borough’s page or form, an explanation of how the 15-foot rule is measured for a driveway container beside a house. Before you rely on a spot, ask the Construction and Zoning Office to confirm that your driveway location complies. Failure to obtain prior approval, the page says, may result in enforcement action and delays in placement. Repeating the Borough’s own language: allow time, and do not take delivery first.

We did not find a separate limit on how many times a pod permit can be renewed, so ask the Clerk’s Office if you expect to run past 14 days.

Driveway, street, or our warehouse

The Audubon form lists the usual reasons: construction and house cleanouts. Those fit the two ways people use us. For a renovation or a move, a driveway container for a couple of weeks matches a 14-day permit well. See on-site portable storage.

If the 15-foot distance does not work on your lot, or you do not want a street placement with blocks and cones, use our warehouse. We keep the loaded container at 1152 Crown Point Road, and it suits long decluttering projects too. See off-site portable storage. We also serve nearby Haddon Heights and Barrington, where the local rules differ.

What belongs in the box

Most people load furniture, boxed kitchenware, seasonal items and the contents of a room that is being redone. Please keep out illegal items, flammables and fuel, propane, perishable food, plants and pets, and do not modify the inside of the container. Packing and loading help is optional.

Audubon portable storage: common questions

Do I need a permit for a portable storage container in Audubon?

Yes. The Borough says a permit is required for any dumpster or POD placed on a street or in a driveway, and approval must come before delivery. The permit fee is $25, and the permit lasts 14 days.

How far in advance should I apply?

The Borough asks you to allow a minimum of three business days for approval by the Clerk’s Office and the Audubon Police Department. Apply before you set our delivery date.

Does the container have to be a certain distance from my house?

The Borough’s requirements say dumpsters and PODs must be at least 15 feet away from any structure. Ask the Construction and Zoning Office how that applies to your driveway before you choose a spot.

Can the pod go on the street?

Yes, with a permit, but a street placement must be on blocks to protect the roadway surface and must include reflective tape and cones for visibility. The form marks the location as either street or driveway.

How do I pay the permit fee?

The fee is $25, paid by exact cash or by check payable to the Borough of Audubon, submitted with the application at the Borough Office.

What if 14 days is not enough?

We can hold the loaded container at our West Deptford warehouse at 1152 Crown Point Road and bring it back to you or a new address later. A 16-foot (8×8) container is $150 per month.
