On-Site Portable Storage

On-site storage is a great option to store your items, conveniently at your door.

How a Container That Stays at Your Property Works

On-site storage is the simplest version of this: the container is delivered to your property and it stays there. No pickup date, no trip to a facility, no calling ahead to get to your things. The 16-foot (8×8) box sits on the driveway as extra garage, shed or attic — you walk out the back door, unlock it and get what you came for. We only haul it to West Deptford if you ask us to, later.

How you use a container that stays at the property

  1. Pick the spot before we deliver. Call for a free estimate and think about placement, because this box is going to live there: a flat, firm stretch of driveway you can walk to in slippers, doors facing out with room to swing, and not across the spot the second car or the trash cans need.
  2. We set the box and leave it. The clean, dry 16-ft (8×8) container is delivered and placed. You never tow, roll or reposition it — if it needs to shift a few feet, that is a call to us, not a job for you and a neighbour.
  3. Load it as an overflow room, not a one-time push. Because it is not going anywhere, it fills the way a garage fills — the mower and the snowblower trading places, the patio set in November, the kayaks in December, the bins that used to block the car.
  4. Organize it for walking in, not for shipping. Leave a centre aisle to the back wall and keep the things you touch monthly near the doors. Since nothing shelf-like can be fixed inside the unit, stack in like-sized bins and keep the heavy items low.
  5. You get things out whenever you want. That is the whole point: no gate hours, no drive across town, no notice. Unlock, take the ladder, lock it back up.
  6. Keep it as long as it is useful. Billing is monthly and rentals run short or long term. When you are done, call and we collect it — or if you decide later you would rather the driveway back, we can pick the loaded container up and store it at our West Deptford warehouse instead.

What belongs in the box when it lives in the driveway

Load it with what you use, but not indoors: patio furniture and cushions, grills, garden tools, the mower and snowblower, bikes, kayaks and camping gear, holiday decorations, sports equipment, spare furniture, toys the kids have outgrown but you have not given up on, and the boxes that are making the real garage unusable. Things you may want back on a whim belong here more than in any off-site unit.

Keep out of the container: anything illegal, plus flammables and fuel, propane tanks, perishable food, plants and pets — which for a driveway unit mostly means the gas can, the spare propane tank and the mower’s full tank, so drain and store fuel elsewhere. No interior modifications: no shelving bolted in, no hooks or hanging rails, no drilling, cutting or wiring, no lighting fitted inside. Bring a flashlight rather than running a cord.

On-site now, West Deptford later if you want it

Staying on-site is the default here and it is what most people want it for: daily or weekly access, no scheduling, and the container doing the job an extra garage bay would do.

Our West Deptford warehouse stays an option, not a plan. If the driveway is needed — a paving job, a listing photo shoot, a contractor’s dumpster, or you simply stop opening the box — we can pick the loaded container up and hold it at 1152 Crown Point Road, West Deptford, then bring it back. We do not move it off the property unless you ask.

Optional packing and loading

Most on-site storage gets loaded a few boxes at a time by whoever is home, which is exactly what loading at your own pace means. If there is a big first push — clearing a full garage or basement into the box in one go, or heavy furniture with no one to help lift it — packing and loading are available as optional services. Ask about it when you call for your estimate.

$125 a month — call to schedule

Portable storage is $125 per month, billed monthly with no requirement to commit long, which is how an overflow garage should work. Call (856) 848-4854 to check availability and talk through where the container should sit. Steedle Moving & Storage has been family-owned since 1918 and works out of 1152 Crown Point Road, West Deptford, NJ.
