Portable Storage Rentals in Voorhees, NJ
For Voorhees, Steedle Portable Storage offers a 16-foot (8×8) container at $150 per month, with one caution: we did not find a Voorhees ordinance that names portable storage containers, but the Township code does limit temporary structures on residential lots. That makes a quick call to the Zoning Office the right first step. Containers are delivered from our yard at 1152 Crown Point Road in West Deptford, or held at our warehouse there. Call (856) 848-4854 for a free estimate. Family-owned since 1918.

How a container is used in Voorhees
Voorhees describes itself as an 11.6-square-mile Camden County township that became separate from Waterford Township in 1899, with a 2020 census population of 31,069. Its history page includes photos from Kirkwood Lake, Glendale and Ashland, and its attractions page calls the Town Center the “Down Town” of Voorhees, with apartments, restaurants and an indoor mall. Whether you live in a house or in an apartment or townhome community, the placement question comes up before anything else.
- Ask first. Call us with your street and your plan. Then call the Voorhees Zoning Office to confirm whether a container on your lot needs a zoning permit.
- Delivery from West Deptford. Once placement is settled, we bring the container to your property. You do not tow or move it.
- Load at your own speed. The box stays locked on the property between loading sessions.
- Switch locations if needed. If the Township or your association says the container cannot stay, we can hold it at our warehouse instead. See off-site portable storage.
What Voorhees requires — and who to call
We did not find an ordinance that names portable storage containers in the Voorhees Township code we reviewed (Title XV, the Unified Land Development Ordinance). What the code does say is in § 150.11, “Temporary Structures”: for residential property, no detached or attached temporary structures are permitted except in the rear yard, subject to the zone’s requirements. The code does not say whether a delivered storage container is a “temporary structure,” and we are not going to guess. Ask the Zoning Office directly, and ask before delivery.
The Township also requires a zoning permit for “nearly all improvements” such as sheds, decks, fences and pools. Its application lists a $60 fee and asks for a property survey or approved site plan showing the proposed work. A container is not on that list of examples, so the Zoning Office is the one to say whether a permit applies.

HOA note: the Township’s Zoning Permit Application says that if a property is subject to a community association that requires approval, the approval must be sought from the association separately, and that a zoning permit does not replace the association’s requirements. In apartment, townhome and association neighborhoods, ask the association before you book.
Driveway container or warehouse box?
On the property suits a job where you are loading and unloading often, such as a renovation that clears one room at a time or a move loaded over several evenings. See on-site portable storage.
At our warehouse suits the situation where the answer from the Township or an association is “not on the lot,” and for decluttering that you want out of the house without a box in the yard. We also serve Cherry Hill and Mount Laurel from West Deptford.
What belongs in the box
Furniture, boxed household goods, extra-room contents during a renovation, and seasonal items. Keep out anything illegal, flammables and fuel, propane, perishable food, plants and pets. No interior modifications. Packing and loading are optional.
Voorhees portable storage: common questions
Is there a Voorhees ordinance on portable storage containers?
We did not find an ordinance that names portable storage containers. The Township’s temporary structures section, § 150.11, limits residential temporary structures to the rear yard. Ask the Zoning Office at (856) 429-0647 whether a container falls under it before delivery.
Do I need a zoning permit in Voorhees?
The Township requires a zoning permit for nearly all improvements and charges $60 on its application. Portable storage is not named in the examples, so call the Zoning Office to find out whether one is needed for a container on your lot.
What if I live in an association community?
The Township’s application says association approval must be sought separately and that a zoning permit does not replace it. Check with your association before scheduling a delivery.
When can I reach the Zoning Office?
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at (856) 429-0647. The Township application notes that summer hours may vary.
