Portable Storage Rentals in Moorestown, NJ
Moorestown has one clear rule for portable storage: containers cannot be placed on a public street, road or highway for any amount of time. That makes a driveway or our warehouse the only workable choices. Steedle Portable Storage rents 16-foot (8×8) containers for $150 per month, delivered from our yard at 1152 Crown Point Road in West Deptford. Call (856) 848-4854 for a free estimate. How a container is used in Moorestown
Moorestown’s Township ordinance creating a Historic Preservation Commission (Ordinance 06-2025, passed April 7, 2025) calls out the Township’s “historic Main Street and surrounds,” and the Township’s preservation pages refer to a historic district covering commercial properties along Main Street and Chester Avenue. Whatever the age of your house, the practical question for a container is where it can legally and physically sit.
- Look at your driveway. Because the street is off the table, the question is whether a 16-foot box fits and can be reached. Tell us the layout when you call.
- We deliver to private property. Steedle brings the container from West Deptford. You do not tow it, and it does not sit on the street.
- Load as the project demands. A renovation that takes weeks, a clear-out done in stages, or a move packed gradually all work the same way.
- No room? Use the warehouse. If the driveway cannot take the box, we keep the loaded container at 1152 Crown Point Road. See off-site portable storage.
What Moorestown’s code says — and who to call
The key provision is § 168-23 in Chapter 168 (Vehicles and Traffic), added in 2012: no homeowner, contractor, business, vehicle operator or other person may cause a roll-off container, dumpster or portable storage unit to be placed upon or along any public street, roadway or highway in the Township for any amount of time. The person responsible pays the removal and storage costs, a police officer may order immediate removal, and the fine is no less than $100 plus court costs.
That section covers the street. We did not find a Moorestown ordinance that sets a permit, duration or driveway-placement standard for portable storage containers on private property. The Township’s Zoning Office issues zoning permits for work such as decks, fences, sheds and some interior renovations, and its application lists a $50 fee, a survey, and approval from your homeowners association if your property has one. A container is not named in the Township’s list of permit examples, so ask whether your project needs one.

Read the street rule: Moorestown Code, Chapter 168, Article III. If your property has an HOA, get its approval in writing; the Township’s zoning application asks for it.
On-site or at the warehouse for Moorestown homes
On-site (in the driveway) fits an active job where you are in and out of the container daily. See on-site portable storage.
The warehouse fits a property with a shared or narrow drive, an HOA that says no, or a listing that needs a clear front. Because the street is not an option, it is also the clean fallback. We cover nearby Mount Laurel and Cherry Hill the same way.
What belongs in the box
Furniture, boxed household goods, antiques you want out of harm’s way during a renovation, and room contents. Keep out anything illegal, flammables and fuel, propane, perishable food, plants and pets. No interior modifications. Optional packing and loading.
Moorestown portable storage: common questions
Can a portable storage container go on the street in Moorestown?
No. Section 168-23 of the Township Code prohibits portable storage units on any public street, roadway or highway for any amount of time. Violators pay removal costs and a fine of at least $100 plus court costs.
Does Moorestown require a permit for a container in my driveway?
We did not find an ordinance that names a permit for portable storage containers on private property. The Zoning Office handles zoning permits and can tell you whether your project needs one. Call (856) 235-0912 ext. 3023 or ext. 3071 before delivery.
Who enforces the street rule?
The code says any police officer may order immediate removal of a unit standing in violation, and the person responsible pays removal and storage costs.
Do I need HOA approval?
The Township’s zoning permit application asks for HOA approval if your property has an HOA. Check your association’s rules before booking a delivery.
What if my driveway is too small?
We can keep the loaded container at our West Deptford warehouse, 1152 Crown Point Road, instead. Steedle does not have a yard in Moorestown. The price is $150 per month for a 16-foot (8×8) container.
Which items are off limits in a Moorestown container?
Illegal items, flammables and fuel, propane, perishable food, plants and pets. We also do not modify the container’s interior.
