Portable Storage Rentals in Medford, NJ

Portable Storage Units, Storage Containers, Rental Units

Medford Township has a permit for PODs, but the Township’s own page frames it around roadways, and the form is built around keeping the container off the street. Steedle Portable Storage rents 16-foot (8×8) containers for $150 per month, delivered from our yard at 1152 Crown Point Road in West Deptford. Under Ordinance 2019-12, the Township requires an application to the Clerk’s Office with no fee, a plot plan, and a maximum of 30 days. We could not retrieve the ordinance text itself, so this page sticks to what the Township’s page and application say. Call (856) 848-4854 for a free estimate. Family-owned since 1918.

What Medford’s permit says, and what we could not verify

The Township’s Planning, Zoning and Code Enforcement page has a short section titled “Dumpsters/Pods/Roll-Off Waste Containers.” It says the Township Council adopted an ordinance in 2019 “requiring permits for dumpsters/roll-off containers/PODS/Bagsters to be placed in roadways,” that the application is submitted to the Clerk’s Office, and that there is no fee. The application is titled “Temporary/Portable Storage Container & Roll-Off Dumpster Permit Application (per Ordinance #2019-12).” From the form itself:

  • It asks for the block, lot and street address, the applicant and the property owner (if different), and the storage unit company, phone, type and dimensions in feet wide, long and high.
  • It asks for the date of placement and a proposed date of removal, and notes that 30 days is the maximum allowed.
  • It asks what the storage is required for, and for an explanation of why the container cannot be placed in the driveway or yard area.
  • It must include a survey or site plan clearly showing the proposed location of the unit on the property.
  • By signing, you attest that you are familiar with Ordinance #2019-12 and will comply, and you understand noncompliance can lead to revocation and monetary penalties.
  • A later version of the form adds a Police approval line for the Clerk’s Office to complete and shows that copies go to the Zoning, Police and Construction departments.

What we did not find: the text of Ordinance 2019-12 itself, which is not in the Township’s eCode360 table of contents we read. So we cannot tell you the penalty amounts, whether a driveway-only container needs a permit, or whether renewals are allowed. The Township page is framed around roadways, but the form is framed around any temporary storage unit and asks why it cannot go on the property. Treat the permit as required unless the Clerk’s Office tells you otherwise, and ask them.

Getting the permit, step by step

  1. Get a plot plan. The application requires a survey or site plan showing the spot. If you have your survey from closing, mark the container location on a copy.
  2. Fill out the application. Our container information: 16 feet long and 8 by 8 feet; we will provide company name and phone when you book.
  3. Answer the driveway question. If the container will go on your driveway or yard, say so. If you are asking for street placement, you need a real reason why it cannot go on the property.
  4. Submit to the Clerk’s Office. There is no fee, per the Township. The Clerk’s Office sends copies to Zoning, Police and Construction.
  5. Schedule delivery within the 30 days. We deliver from West Deptford on your placement date and remove on the removal date.

Planning a Medford job

Because the ordinance text is not available to us, the cautious approach is to get the permit in hand first and then book delivery.

On your own driveway or yard is the first choice the application points to, and it fits a move or a renovation that can be done inside 30 days. See on-site portable storage.

At our warehouse avoids the 30-day maximum and the roadway question, and it is the better fit for a long decluttering project. The loaded container waits at 1152 Crown Point Road until you are ready. See off-site portable storage. We also serve Medford Lakes and Evesham nearby, each with its own rules.

What belongs in the box

Typical loads are household goods, boxed papers and books, furniture and the contents of rooms being painted, floored or remodeled. Illegal items, flammables and fuel, propane, perishable food, plants and pets stay out, and there are no interior modifications. Optional packing and loading are available.

Medford portable storage: common questions

Do I need a permit for a portable storage container in Medford Township?

The Township requires a permit under Ordinance 2019-12 for dumpsters, roll-off containers, PODs and similar units, applied for at the Clerk’s Office. Its page frames the rule around roadway placement, so ask the Clerk whether a driveway-only container needs one. There is no fee.

How long can a container stay?

The Township’s application states a 30-day maximum between placement and removal. We could not retrieve the ordinance text, so ask the Clerk’s Office about extensions.

What do I need to submit?

A completed application with the block, lot, owner and container company information, the dimensions of the unit, the dates, an explanation of why the container cannot go in the driveway or yard, and a survey or site plan showing the proposed location.

Can the container go on the street?

The Township’s permit covers roadway placement, and its form asks you to explain why the container cannot be placed in the driveway or yard. Expect the Township to prefer private property; ask the Clerk’s Office what it will approve.

Where is the Town Hall and what are the hours?

49 Union Street, Medford, NJ 08055, (609) 654-2608. Regular hours resumed September 8, 2026 at Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What if I need more than 30 days?

Steedle can store the loaded container at our West Deptford warehouse, 1152 Crown Point Road, so it is not on the street or your driveway. A 16-foot (8×8) container is $150 per month.
